Program Evaluation

Youth Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Model - Peer Youth Mentors will mentor the Peer Youth Mentees. The Middle School students will mentor the Elementary School students, the High school students will mentor the Middle school students and the College students will mentor the high school students. According to literature review regardless of the age of the target population, peer programs have been designed to encourage attitudes, knowledge, behaviors and outcomes that the community considers desirable, to discourage attitudes, behaviors and outcomes that a community considers undesirable, or to accomplish some of each. [Shiner, 1999] The success of the program will depend on the outcomes of each of the individual core components of the program. It is imperative that evaluations be given and collected to show how effective the program is and what type of impact it has on the crime that has been plaguing urban communities. For the educational development portion of the program, evaluations will be determined on how each participant is doing in school. The post-graduate portion of the program will be evaluated on how many students who stayed in the program and graduated high school actually went off to college or trade school.
